Update
So, I was VERY discouraged (to say the least) that nobody really seemed that concerned or interested about little Tamara, especially when I know that my blog was viewed a lot. I was frustrated that not many shared and that nobody really seemed to donate (I assumed this because nobody entered the giveaway, which doesn’t bother me except for the fact that I really wanted to see her account grow.) I had no idea if I would even come on to post again because I didn’t know what to say. A little girl who will be transferred to a mental institution any day now, and we aren’t willing to give??? If everyone I know (or everyone who read the blog post that I posted or some of my friends blogs about Tamara too) gave a few dollars, it would have made a huge difference. So, I was annoyed. Something about this little girl stole my heart and I wanted justice for her, but more importantly a family (and believe me we prayed and prayed thinking and hoping that we might be her family.) BUT I AM SO, AMAZINGLY THRILLED!!!! Not only has her account grown a little, but even more importantly, SHE HAS A FAMILY. I do not know who they are or how they found out about her but all I know is that there is a family out there who is going to do everything in their power to get to her and to be her family. SO, SO BEYOND WORDS. When I find out who the family is and if they have a blog, I will most definitely share. I know this little girl is going to do so well in a family
Also, if anyone feels led to give to her account PLEASE, PLEASE do. I am sure the family who has stepped out in faith would most definitely appreciate any help, as international adoption is NOT cheap. Pray for sweet Tamara that she will not be transferred before her family can get to her. And pray for the many, many other precious children that wait. To see some of the sweet ones waiting visit Reece’s Rainbow, Rainbowkids, or Holt’s website.
Ugandan purse/necklaces giveaway!
So, I have been MIA for a while. But it has been super busy. Jayson has a new job which means he travels quite a bit and I am home with the three crazies! Also, we just moved. But, I figured I should come out of hiding for a very important cause. There has been a little girl on my mind and heart lately. Meet Tamara…
From an adoptive mom who met sweet Tamara a few months ago…There is another little girl we met while we were there. I heard her called by another name (probably her birth name) at the orphanage but Reece’s Rainbow has listed her as “Tamara”. We actually wanted to adopt this little girl too. We felt confident we could handle her special needs along side Zeph’s. She is completely mobile. She is smart. She not only talks – she can sing and dance and she can recite lines in a play. We SAW her do this! She was smiling a lot. She was all dolled up for her little play. Then we got a real treat and saw her playing on the playground with her groupa! She kept looking at us and coming up to us and smiling and was very inquisitive. To read more check out the blog here. I REALLY want to see her in a family soon, especially before being transferred to a mental institution-where she does NOT belong. I am praying there is a family (homestudy ready or, better yet, already adopting another child from Ukraine) who would consider adopting sweet Tamara too. I have never done any kind of fundraising on my blog before, but for this precious one, it is worth a try. So, for every $5 donated into her RR account here (which will be available to cover adoption expenses for whoever steps up to adopt her) I will enter your name into a drawing. (Just let me know on here so I can enter you… $5-1 entry, $10-2 entries, $15-3 entries-you get the idea) You can also receive an additional entry for sharing about this fundraiser on facebook, blogs, twitter, whatever. Again, just let me know so I can enter you. And what might you win???? Well, beautiful items from Uganda, of course! I have several UG sling purses as well as some paper bead necklaces and bracelets available. Or, if you would just like to buy an item from me ($20 for purses or necklaces) then PLEASE let me know and I will put all of the money made right into Tamara’s RR account. I desperately want to see A LOT more money raised so that whoever her family is can have less to worry about as far as adoption expenses. We all can afford to donate $5, but Tamara CANNOT afford to be forgotten. My heart hurts to think of what might happen to her if she is transferred, but I have no doubt that she would thrive in a family and bring so many blessings to those around her. I will announce the winner on May 6th
C4C retreat
Had a wonderful weekend with other moms who are passionate about adoption and orphan care. It was such a fun time of catching up with friends and getting to meet and know others who I have only met on facebook. If you didn’t get to go, there is another one in March. Sign up here before all the spots are gone!
Fellow Uganda adoptive mommies at dinner one night
Tara, me and Sarah after an evening session
Sixty Feet missions trip buddies-so good to see them again!!!!
Finally get to meet a fellow adoptive mom with a super cool blog
Lately, things have been pretty busy. My mom and I took the boys to Winter Jam, which was awesome of course!
Jayce lost a tooth, which is crazy and makes me feel old!
Kai is still getting into things…can you guess what this is????
It’s make up. She thought it would be fun to put some of my foundation on her face, even on her eyelids like eye shadow.
We also put yarn braids back in, as you can see. I tried to braid the yarn braids and after a few days in, the result was really cute. Don’t you think?
And, I am headed off to C4C this weekend, and I CANNOT WAIT!!!! So excited to see some friends I haven’t seen in a while and make some new ones
