Orphan to Daughter
It is hard to believe that this time last year our daughter was an orphan. We knew about her and already considered her ours, but technically she wasn’t ours yet. We hadn’t even met her. Eleven months later and the changes in her are remarkable. She has grown a ton-size, weight, personality. Since today is Orphan Sunday, I wanted to show the transformation in our daughter and encourage others to consider what their role is in the orphan crisis. We are all called to care for the orphans (James 1:27.) But how does that look for you? I can honestly say from our experience, the most rewarding way for our family is through adoption (sponsorship, missions trips, and supporting others caring for orphans are all great ways to help, but I love what adoption has done for our family.) I think everyone needs to at least consider it and pray about it. By God’s grace, Kai is no longer one of the millions of orphans in the world today. She is our daughter. But there are still so many children that are waiting for families to call their own. Today, I can’t help but thinking about a little girl in Uganda now who needs a family. Our future little girl. I cannot wait to find out who she is and hopefully see another amazing transformation of an orphan into a daughter before this time next year.
